One Saturday after visiting the farmer’s market at Marion Square, I stopped and shot this photo under a tree on King Street. Compared to the famous architecture South of Broad, these beautifully crafted buildings go relatively unnoticed.
I rarely stop to take it in myself. King Street has a hustle that opposes the typical laid-back Charleston mood. It has that funky keep-on-struttin’ vibe. But structures like these—and especially the Kresse Building, my favorite—will slow you down if you look up and let them.
