Waterfront Park (downtown)

Waterfront Park in downtown Charleston is the most convenient park and waterfront area on the Charleston peninsula.

Piers bookend both sides of Waterfront Park.  The more commonly visited north pier, famous for its swings, reaches into the harbor.  While the less visited southern pier is smaller and less formal, it’s a comfortable place to sit, picnic or just check out the nearby pilot boats.

The space between includes a pleasant walkway along the marsh, spectacular fountains, shaded sitting areas and even a plaque detailing Hurricane Hugo’s stormy days.

Watch out for Italian ice hucksters and beggars.
