Slow, slow winter

After a long holiday, it feels like the January doldrums. I’m writing from frigid Chicago where the temperature this morning was 6 F. It was 28 F. in Charleston at the same time.
While I’m not excusing the lack of activity on the site—I really did want to keep things moving through the holiday season—I did want to post a quick note about what’s going on.
Winter is the slow season down here. It’s a time for family and friends. A few holiday parties gave me an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with old friends.
When I return to Charleston this week, I’m going to try and go on some little hikes in the woods. While it can be a bit chilly in the winter, there’s nothing like the silence of dead mosquitoes not biting you.
Enough for now. Look for things to pick up again in the next week or two.
